Make Room for Growth

Growth is often treated as an individual assignment: learn more, try harder, become more confident.

But people do not grow in isolation.

Relationships influence what feels possible. Values shape which direction is worth pursuing. Roles, resources, history, and operating realities affect what the environment can support. Future possibilities depend partly on what today’s choices make room to carry.

Looking beyond the immediate question does not remove personal responsibility. It helps us understand where that responsibility sits—and what else may need attention for growth to take hold.

Sometimes the question is not only, “How do I need to grow?”

It is also, “What around me needs to change so that growth has room?”
